Last words from the Angela Castro and the ESL Staff

The ESL camp has wrapped up and the students have moved into their new rooms. We’ve just finished our first week of regular classes and the students are quickly making friends with people from all over the world. The camp was a great success and we were extremely pleased with the students attitude, behavior and enthusiasm. We wish them all a wonderful year.

September 7th - Day 19

8:00 - 9:30 am: breakfast.
10:15 am: the bus will depart Shediac, New Brunswick.
2:00 pm (approx): students will arrive to King's-Edgehill School (KES).
Students will spend the afternoon getting their permanent rooms ready for the year.
The KES ESL summer camp ends today!

September 6th - Day 18

8:00 am: Departure from Hotel
9:00 am: Arrival at Hopewell Rocks (Low Tide) and walk on the Ocean floor.
11:00 am: Arrival at Broadleaf, the group will be divided into 2 teams. Team A will go horseback riding on a trail. Team B will hike at Crooked Creek.
12:00 pm: Brunch at the Ranch's restaurant.
1:00 pm: Teams will switch activities. Team B, trail ride and Team A, hike at Crooked Creek
2:00 pm: Return to Hopewell Rocks for High Tide.

September 5th - Day 17

Breakfast at 8:30
Today students will spend the day doing two activities. In the morning we will go to a water park called Magic Mountain and in the afternoon we'll go to the beach.
Supper: 6:30 pm. - Chinese buffet.

September 4th - Day 16

Students are moving into their permanent rooms.

September 4th - Day 16

Breakfast: 8:15
At 9 am students will move to their permanent rooms.
Activity: Four day trip to New Brunswick. Today at 10 am the bus will depart for Shediac, New Brunswick. We will spend four days there. Students will return to the school on Monday, September 7th at approximately 5 pm. I'll try to keep you up-to-date while on this trip. September 3rd - Day 15

Breakfast: 8 am
Classes: 9 -12
Sports: Rugby, swimming and volleyball.
Supper: 5 pm
During the evening students get ready to move to their permanent rooms.

September 2nd - Day 14

Breakfast: 8:15
Classes: 9 - 12
Activity: Most students, 19 to to be exact, will spend the day acting. This pilot show will end filming this evening at 11 pm. Due to liability issues I can't write the names of students who are acting today, I'm not allowed to take pictures either, sorry. Students who aren't filming will spend the afternoon playing sports and touring downtown Windsor.

September 1st - Day 13

Breakfast 8:15
Classes: 9 - 12 noon.
Activiy: Acting in the pilot comedy show Mr. Deed. Shottings will commence at 11 am. Students will spend the day filming.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to take pictures. I'll keep you posted.

Please note that your child has had access to the computer lab at least five times since the camp started.

Students vs Staff soccer game

Unfortunately the Staff team lost yesterday's game 6 to 7. This is the first year we have lost a soccer game against students. Nevertheless, we all had fun !!! Pictures will follow.

August 31st - Day 12

Room Inspection: 8 am
Classes: 9 - 12
Lunch: 12 - 12:45
Activity: Students will spend the afternoon at Halifax Shopping Centre. Today we were scheduled to take students to the beach in the afternoon: however, the weather didn't cooperate with us, thus, we had to change plans.
Dinner: Students will dine in Halifax
Study: 7:30 - 9 pm

August 30th - Day 11 - Free time and Sports

Brunch: 11:00 am
Activity: 3:00 pm. Students vs Staff soccer game.
Supper: 5:00 pm.
Study: 7-30 - 9 pm.

August 29th - Day 10

This will be a busy day!!
Breakfast: 9 am
Activity: Students will spend all day in Halifax. They will go to visit museums, tour the Halifax Citadel, which is a National Historic Site. Then, they'll see the play, Love's Labour Lost performed by Shakespeare by the Sea Theatre Group. After dinning in Halifax students will go to a movie theater in Bayer's Lake, Halifax.

August 28th - Day 9

Room inspection: 8 am
Classes: 9 - 12 noon
Activity: 1 - 4 pm. Students will go canoeing and kayaking at the local lake, Pisiquid lake. At 4:30 we'll take a 15 minute bus ride to Hantsport for a BBQ (Barbeque)at the Castro's and the Folker's.

Thursday, August 27th - Day 8

Room inspection: 8 am
Classes: 9 - 12 am
Sports: 1 - 4; Mr. Derek Bouwman, Mr. Kevin Lakes and Mr. Kim Walsh, who are faculty members and KES finest coaches will spend the afternoon sharing their knowledge with our students in Basketball and wrestling. Pictures will follow.
Supper: 5 pm
Study: 7:30 - 9 pm
Bedtime: 10:30 pm

Wednesday, August 26th - Day 7

After attended morning classes students had an fun afternoon Bowling and Laser-tagging.
Study period: 7:30 - 9 pm
Bedtime: 10:30 pm

Day 6 - 8 am

Students woke-up at seven and after making their beds and cleaning their rooms went to breakfast and proceeded to attend morning classes.

Tuesday, August 25th - Day 6

Classes from 9-12 noon
lunch 12:00
Activity: Shopping and dinner at MicMac Mall (Students will be asked to buy essentials items for the regular school year)
Study: 7:30 - 9 pm
Lights out at 10:30

Monday, August 24 - Day 5

9 - 12 noon: classes
1:30 pm - 4: Trip to the village of New Minas. The canoe/kayak activity has been rescheduled due to weather conditions.
5:00 pm: supper
6-7 pm: sports in the gym (AC)
7:30 - 9:00 pm: prep (study)

Sunday, August 23 - Day 4

A day to rest
Brunch at 11:00
